Rayburn Tours Geography Study Handbooks receive SAGT Award…for the second year running!

Following the Scottish Association of Geography Teachers (SAGT) Awards and Annual Conference, which took place last Saturday 29th October 2011, the Educational Tours team at Rayburn Tours are thrilled to announce that their Geography Tour Study Handbooks have been awarded ‘Highly Commended’ in the 2011 SAGT Awards non-book category.
This accomplishment is just the latest in a series of awards bestowed upon the Study Handbooks. In 2010, the SAGT announced us as ‘Overall Winner’ in the same category, followed six months later by the Geographical Association recognising them to ‘make a significant contribution to the quality of geographical experience of any student or teacher on a study tour’ and awarding us ‘Highly Commended’.
Developed by former Head of Geography, and Rayburn Tours Geography Tours Development Manager, Ian Hardie, the Handbooks are bespoke to each tour, comprising only those Study Units which are relevant to the group’s itinerary and learning objectives.

The news is a fantastic reward for Ian and the team, who over the past year have seen the Student Handbooks and their accompanying Teacher Guides undergo intense development, including the launch of the Netherlands Handbook and the introduction of a number of brand new Study Units. Such continual development ensures and maintains the educational content of the Handbooks to reflect the National Curriculum and to see this dedication recognised by national associations such as the SAGT and the GA is hugely rewarding.
John Boyden, Managing Director of Rayburn Tours, shared his congratulations with the team this morning and comments: ‘this is fantastic news and again reinforces the commitment and quality that is applied to our geography product.’
Our three time award-winning Study Handbooks are available to groups participating on a Geography Tour to Iceland, Morocco, Switzerland, France, Hong Kong and China and, new for 2011; the Netherlands. In addition, the team are currently developing two more Study Handbooks which are due to launch in early 2012.
